Welcome to the 2024 Global Book Club!

For the past several years, this has been such a fun way for families to come together by reading children’s books from around the world. We’ve loved finding wonderful, authentic, diverse children’s literature written by authors connected to these countries and cultures. We can’t wait to enjoy, expand our perspectives, and virtually travel the globe.

What is the 2024 Global Book Club?

The Global Book Club (GBC) is a virtual book club for families of all ages and sizes to connect with new and diverse peoples, places, and perspectives from around the world. We do this through highlighting a new country each month through books.

This year, we’ll have two components to the virtual book club: inclusive children’s picture books and authentic cookbooks.

PICTURE BOOK: The inclusive children’s picture book will be connected to the country and/or culture each month. You can read it on your own, and I’ll be doing a read aloud of it on Instagram Live the first Tuesday of the month at 9:30am EST / 6:30am PST. and will save it to my highlights so you can watch it whenever works for you.

COOKBOOK: I’ll also be cooking from a cookbook connected to the country of the month. So much of culture and place is connected to FOOD, and is an amazing way to learn about peoples, customs, climates, and more. It’s also a way for the entire family to get involved, from babies to adults!

I’ll personally be sharing a few recipes I make each month, but you’re welcome to make as many or as few as works for your family, food preferences, and schedule. I’ve specifically chosen cookbooks that not only share recipes but also include cultural insights and personal anecdotes. So even if you don’t make a single recipe, the cookbooks are still a wonderful way to connect to the country of the month.

What ages is the GBC for?

The GBC is for families of ALL ages. Especially with the inclusion of cookbooks this year, it’s really a way for the entire family to participate! If you want some extra reading material, I’ll also be releasing an adult reading list tomorrow, so you can dive even further into the culture if you wish.

How much does the GBC cost?

The best thing about the Global Book Club is that it’s completely FREE. While I can’t personally provide a way for every family to physically travel, I love being able to provide ways for every family to have access to ways to connect with expansive and fun connections to cultures, customs, perspectives, and insights that come from learning about places around the world.
