It’s here – the list of diverse chapter books for the Global Children’s Book Club!
You guys have been SO anxious and excited over on Instagram. It just gives me all the feels knowing there are so many families who are committed to providing their kids with diverse perspectives and stories from around the globe. If you’re not sure how it all works, go read this intro post about the Global Children’s Book Club.
For this virtual summer book club, we’ll focus on 3 globally inspired children’s chapter books. We’ll read one each for the months of June, July, and August. We’ll also have 26 picture books based on 26 different countries – one for each letter of the alphabet – go see that list of diverse picture books here!

Global Children’s Book Club Chapter Chapter Book Age Ranges
I wanted to make this program accessible to as many families as possible. Because of that, I’ve chosen one chapter book primarily aimed at preschoolers and early elementary schoolers (age 5-8), one aimed at middle elementary schoolers (age 7-9), and one aimed at older elementary/early middle schoolers (age 9-12).
While these are the recommended ages, I’ve tried hard to choose books that will appeal to a wide variety of ages. It’s my goal that the “younger” books will still be plenty interesting for older kiddos, and that the “older” books won’t be far too complex or intense for younger families.
Where To Participate in Diverse Chapter Books Discussions
I lead a few discussions over on Instagram, all saved in highlight bubbles for the books. I also have a full virtual field trip to each of the countries on which the books are based. Be sure to sign up below to receive the emails!
Here’s the 2020 Global Children’s Book Club discussion schedule!
How Much Does It Cost?
The program is completely free both here on the blog and on Instagram!
It’s also really important to me to allow as many families as possible access to the program. So for each book, I’m providing a list of locations for purchase, several of which are cheap or free.
Without further ado, here are the 3 chapter books for the 2020 Global Children’s Book Club! And if you’re looking for all of them in one place, here’s a printable book list!
