Our 2021 Easter Baskets

I love putting together Easter baskets for my kids. But what I DON’T love is filling them with a bunch of junk that I don’t actually want around my house. I like to stick to pretty minimalist Easter baskets that are filled with things my kids actually need.

This is the first year in many moons that I haven’t done new Easter clothes for my kids. We haven’t yet returned to in-person church, and Easter Sunday this year is the same day as our church’s General Conference, which everyone watches from home, anyway. My kids don’t really need new dressy clothes right now so it just didn’t seem worthwhile to do kids Easter clothes for everyone.

Instead, I made their baskets a bit bigger and put in some fun things for us to use as a family this summer. Here’s what we’re doing for our kids Easter baskets!

Chocolate

Of course everyone needs some chocolate in their baskets! I was super excited that See’s came out with a new dark chocolate peanut butter egg this year, so that’s what I’m putting in everyone’s baskets.

I’ll also add some of these, as well as a mini bunny.

Book

I love to put a new book in every basket. Some years I do a seasonal one for Easter or another spring holiday like Holi or Passover. But we already have quite a few seasonal books so this year, I decided to go with a UK theme since we’ve been studying the UK this month (except for the one for my 3 year old – I just loved that one).

Individual Fun Gifts

It’s nice to have some consistency across all the kids, but I also like to give them each one or two little things unique to them based on either their needs, interests, requests, or all of the above. Here’s what I did for each child!

10 Year Old: Athletic Shorts & Pool Dive Rings

8 Year Old: Yellow Swiss Army Knife & Nail Stickers (yellow is her favorite color and she’s been asking for a pocketknife)

6 Year Old: Glow in the Dark Pajamas & Flip Flops (these are my very favorites that last forever and don’t break!)

3 Year Old: Book of Stickers & Magic Tracing Book

1 Year Old: Yellow Bunny Sweater & Bunny Ears Headband

Summer Water Toy

With summer coming up, I wanted to do some sort of water toy for the beach. My oldest’s old boogie board broke last summer and he’s been wanting a new one. So I decided to get him one and do one for my 8 and 6 year olds, too.

My search turned up this inexpensive body board for kids since it doesn’t seem the Costco by us has them this year. We’ll see how the quality goes! If it doesn’t work out, we’ll go back to our old staple with this high quality boogie board for kids.

I knew my 3 year old wouldn’t use the boogie board, so instead I got him a water gun, which he’s been asking for ever since his brother bought one using the money from his family economy account.

Paint By Sticker Book

We go through a lot of activity books, and paint by sticker ones are some of our favorites. Here are the ones I got for my kids’ baskets: 10 year old, 8 year old, 6 year old, 3 year old.

Swimsuit (or Shoes)

Several of my kids have worn through past seasons’ swimsuits and needed new ones, including rash guards. I got my 3 & 6 year old these cute boys swim trunks and this rash guard. I got my 10 year old the matching older boys swim trunks and this boys rash guard. And I got this darling little baby girl swimsuit!

My older daughter had several suits that were still almost new, but had zero pairs of casual shoes (just athletic sneakers and sandals). So I got her these super cute girls casual sneakers in the llama print.

Learning Aid

There are a couple of learning aids that have either broken or of which we don’t have enough for all the kids, so I refreshed those. My older two kids have these book lights, so I bought two more book lights for the younger two boys. They’re perfect if they’re allowed to read in bed at night for a bit, or for reading in the RV without waking everyone up.

My oldest’s headphones for his school Chromebook had broken, so I refreshed those with a new pair. And I stuck some replacement batteries for my daughter’s book light in her basket since hers died. Simple and useful things for learning at home and school

Obviously, there were a few things on the list for the older kids that I didn’t get the baby. Here are some of the things I got her instead!
