Each year, I love thinking through some of my favorite products that I’ve found or been using consistently – everything from beauty to personal care to the kitchen to travel. I love taking some time to pay attention to what I’ve used the most over the year and what has stood the test of time.
While these items are all at different price points, they all have a low cost per use because I use them SO much. Especially since we try to keep things a bit more minimal in our home, I try hard to purchase things that get used regularly and are functional and versatile.
Here are some of my favorite products in 2024 that I’ve used tons at home and when traveling. Plus, at the end, I’m sharing some of YOUR favorite items from the year that you shared with me over on Instagram. I hope it gives you some inspiration whether you’re purchasing gifts or looking for some new items for yourself!
(And if you’re interested in previous years, here are my lists from 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020.)
Hey June Huggie Earrings (discount code PREETHI)
I went through every single favorite things post I’ve written in the last several years to ensure I hadn’t yet included my favorite jewelry, as it seemed shocking that I hadn’t. Turns out it was a gross oversight so clearly they needed to be number one this year!
If you’ve been here for about 45 seconds, you’ve likely heard me talk about Hey June and almost certainly seen me wearing their pieces, since I do 99% of the time (I can think of only a handful of days this year when I’ve worn different earrings). I love their jewelry, especially their earrings – they’re so comfortable, lightweight (very needed for my sensitive ears), don’t tarnish, and have such cute styles. They’re the only ones I wear when traveling because I can leave them in for sleeping/traveling/showering/swimming and not risk losing them.
The huggie styles are my very favorite because they’re the MOST comfortable (truly I don’t notice them at all when wearing them) – my favorites are the hexagon huggies, but I also love the rectangles, these adorable bow huggies, and these chunky huggies. I also adore lots of their holiday ones (like these darling statement bows).
You can use the code PREETHI for a discount on your order.
Amazon Socks
I’ve loved wool socks for over a decade now, and for years was committed to my Darn Tough + Smartwool combo. They’re especially great for travel since they keep me from getting blisters when walking miles and miles, and don’t get stinky easily.
While those brands are terrific, they’re also pricey. Plus, they tend to be more snug/not super stretchy. I’d heard about this affordable brand and gave it a shot this year and I’m obsessed with them. They’re so soft, stretchy, cozy, and keep my feet just as warm as the name brands. They might be even more comfortable! Plus, the socks only cost between $3-5/pair depending on the pattern. I’ve now purchased multiple sets and they’re always the first ones I reach for. Perfect with my beloved Chelsea boots, too.
T-fal Nonstick Frying Pan
We’ve sort of struggled with nonstick pans a lot over the years, and especially since moving to London> It’s just really difficult to find a good one that doesn’t stick, doesn’t immediately start to flake off or scratch, can be used on gas/electric/induction cooktops, and that doesn’t burn on one side.
This pan is absolutely fantastic. It’s amazingly nonstick, and can even be used with metal cooking tools. It’s oven-safe, heats really evenly, and is just all around excellent. I use it every morning to make eggs and it’s a dream. There’s a reason it has thousands of gushy reviews! Here’s the 12-inch veresion, or a 2-piece set with 10″ and 12″ pans included (and only costs a couple dollars more).
Wunderskin Lip Stain
I just got this lip stain a few weeks ago so it’s pretty remarkable that it’s already made it onto my list of favorite products of the year. It’s honestly amazing – you just swipe it on, let it sit for a couple minutes, then wipe off the purple liquid and it leaves a pretty stain that truly stays on the entire day. It does NOT feel like lipstick or like you have anything on at all, which I love because I hate wearing lipstick. It does not smear at ALL. Not even a little bit.
I love the color Romance, which is a super natural pinky shade. I usually wipe off my liquid pretty quickly so it is just a light stain, but you can easily go darker if you prefer. Love it so much and I’ve been wearing it every day!
Geometry Towels (Discount Code PreethiH15)
This is another one of those products that I’ve talked about incessantly this year, so it’s no surprise it made the list! I never thought I’d be opinionated about kitchen towels, but here we are. I’d heard about the Geometry towels for ages before finally biting the bullet and purchasing one to test out. Literally within 30 minutes of it arriving, I had ordered half a dozen more and have since replaced all my kitchen towels with Geometry ones. They’re just so soft, absorbent (I love the waffle texture), dry quickly (so they don’t get stinky), and come in the cutest patterns.
So many of you have purchased them, too, and without fail, I always hear back that you never thought you’d care so much about kitchen towels but that you’re obsessed with these. Lots of you have mentioned the bathroom towels, bath towels, dinner napkins, and more are equally amazing!
You can use the code PreethiH15 for a discount on your order.
Mini Sound Machine
It would be absolutely impossible to complete this list without mentioning this tiny white noise machine. It just might be the product I’ve shared (and that you all have loved) the most this year!
I originally purchased this one last year, and we still have two of them that we use (and love) daily. It’s terrific. It has fantastic sound quality and battery life and both have come on every single trip with us this year.
Then this year, we purchased two more – of this kind. It’s also excellent and also tiny! This one is even cheaper than the other one (though they’re both really affordable) and is currently 2 for the price of one on several colors. You cannot go wrong with either one, and they’d make a great stocking stuffer – for a traveler or not (we use ours every single night at home!).
Victorinox Bread Knife + Folding Utility Knife
For years, I used the Cutco bread knife (which is terrific). But for whatever reason (probably fear of it slicing through something), I didn’t ship it to London. The Cutco one is expensive, so I decided to try out a Victorinox bread knife since I love their other knives for cutting fruit and things and their bread knife is really affordable. Plus, they’re the ones who make Swiss Army knives, so I figured their kitchen ones were probably decent, as well. (Their utility knives and paring knives are my favorites – we have several of each and use them all the time.
Turns out I LOVE it.
It’s just as good as the Cutco one, in my opinion, but is a fraction of the price. After loving the bread knife and my others, I grabbed one of their folding utility knifes when we were in Switzerland and it’s my absolute favorite. We leave it in our picnic bag and it’s so helpful when we’re out and about! It would make a great gift for someone who likes to adventure locally or is outdoorsy.
Puzzle Board
I’ve only mentioned this puzzle board about once…or twice…a minute…all year (name that reference!). I got it just over a year ago and it’s been so nice to have a space to contain puzzles, especially with a couple little kids still around our house. In our small-ish London living room, it’s great to not take over the entire craft table or floor when guests come over, and just be able to shift it to a different room. I have the 1000 piece version, but this brand is currently the same price for the 1500 piece version, so that’s what I’d get if I were purchasing it today.
Colette Cropped Pants
This is another item I’m shocked I haven’t included before because I’ve loved them for years! (I even did a whole post about how great and versatile they are in a variety of outfits.) These pants are so comfy, have some stretch, are so cute and work with a huge variety of tops and shoes. They’re perfect in cut and color for summer and winter (I have the color Holly). They’re just so great! I recently purchased the same pants in the ponte version, as well as in the full-length denim version, and they’re just as great.
Comfy, Lightweight Travel Pants
Speaking of pants, I’ve waxed poetic about these so many times. (I have a dedicated blog post about why they’re the best travel pants.) They’re super comfortable (they have a wide, stretchy waistband), lightweight, pack down really small, dress up or down, layer well, dry really fast, and are just fantastic. I wear them all the time at home, too, but they’re my go-tos for travel and I always take them along.
Menstrual Cup + Sanitizer
I haven’t used a menstrual cup super regularly for…well, ever. They didn’t become more popular until after I started having babies (I’m realizing I first got pregnant 15 years ago!!), and I only ever menstruated a few times in between babies. Now that we’re done having kids, I’ve been using one regularly for 9ish months and while it’s still not the most fun thing in the world, I’m remembering just HOW MUCH better they are than pads or tampons. (I use a Saalt cup.)
I recently got this little sterilizer cup to sanitize it in between periods. It always feels like a pain to boil it in a pot so this is a much easier solution, and will also allow me to rinse it in public restrooms if needed. Both a cup and this sterilizer are especially fantastic when traveling!
3-in-1 Travel Charging Station
This little travel charging station is so terrific for charging my phone, watch, and AirPods all at the same time, and folds up so small. I love taking it along! Would make a great gift for a travel-lover in your life.
Big Glass Dry Erase Board
I purchased this giant frameless glass dry erase board a couple months after moving to London to hang in our house. I write up our monthly and weekly calendars on there, along with our meal plan and the kids’ chores. It’s SO helpful to have a dedicated space where everyone can look to see what’s going on, and to have a visual reminder of what is happening in our home. It truly takes so much of the mental burden off me!
I love that this one has a clean look to it and isn’t intrusive. I use this thin whiteboard tape to mark off calendar and other spaces and it’s been perfect.
Sezane Chunky Cardigan
This cardigan is one of those items of clothing that is just the best staple, will last through the years, is super comfy and looks good with everything, and that I’ve worn dozens and dozens of times. It’s such a classic. Two of my friends on my book club retreat also had it in different colors and I’m pretty sure we convinced everyone else there to get one, too. 😉 Mine is navy and I wear a size XS (I’d say it runs just a bit big).
Satin Bonnet
I’ve been re-figuring out my curly hair over the last year! After moving from California, I really didn’t know what to do with it. I had been blowing it out for a few years (the dry sunshine wasn’t great for curls, and I didn’t know how to do them!), but that’s almost impossible here in damp London. It’s been fun wearing it with my natural curl again and I’ve honestly been loving it.
I definitely don’t have the time or energy to wash it every day (and it’s not great for it, either), but it tends to get pretty frizzy from sleep. So I purchased a satin bonnet to wear when sleeping and it’s helped SO much. I can easily make my hair last at least 3-4 days with it and it’s comfy to wear.
Ouai Shampoo
London has notoriously hard water, and it’s really tough on hair (especially curly hair!). I’ve heard from so many people that they struggle with this!! I loved this detox shampoo before moving, but only used it occasionally. Now I use it every wash and it helps so much. It really clears out all the minerals and gets my hair feeling clean and soft and ready to be styled. Plus, it smells so good and helps my hair last days longer between washes.
